Bike lanes

A low-poly 4 m street section built around a protected two-way cycle track: a brick-red lane with bike pictograms, arrows and a dashed centre line, separated from a grey road strip by a kerbed, planted island with bollards, and edged by a raised cream-slab footway. Copies tile seamlessly along the street.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Bike lanes for the Bicycle City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Bicycle City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Streets made for bikes. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick red lanes #c32222, canal green #3a883a, bright bike colours #b39d80, cream #f1e7d0, brick red lanes dark #821717, canal green dark #235223, brick red lanes light #db5757, canal green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bikeColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Bike colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 5.5 m wide (X) × 4.0 m long (Z) at the default 2.5 m cycle track width, 1.06 m tall at the bollard tops; the track surface sits at 0.10 m and kerbs and footway at 0.22 m. The origin is at the bottom centre, the street runs along Z, the front faces +Z. Cross-section from -X: 1.0 m road strip with an edge line, 0.8 m planted island, the two-way cycle track, 1.2 m footway. Every band runs edge to edge and the dashes, setts and paving repeat on 1 m or 2 m periods, so copies tile along Z (the shrub clumps sit at z = -1, 0, 1, so the gap across a seam is 2 m rather than 1 m). The GLB is baked at the default params: 1,840 triangles, 15 meshes, static, no animation clip. Every material is named after its kit palette colour (10 colours); 'mid grey' and 'warm white' appear more than once because the exporter writes one material per mesh. Bike colours (the kit knob) sets how many of the four bollard bands use bright bike colours instead of warm white (2 at 0.5), and from 0.75 the pictograms and arrows are painted in bike colours too. laneWidth widens the whole section; planting sets shrub count (1 below 0.34, else 3) and size. Those changes rebuild in the viewer only. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 expected warnings: duplicate per-mesh materials and the material count, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, kerbs/soil and bollard bands nesting by design, and the painted markings seated a few mm into the surface registering as 'detached'. Plan-check rejects the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen in the first segment; a de-hyphenated copy of the plan passes. three-check and the GLB carry the ids correctly.

About the Bike lanes 3D model

Bike lanes is a free low-poly 3D model from the Bicycle City set. It measures 5.5 m × 1.0 m × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,840 triangles across 15 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 142 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Bike lanes 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 142 KB: 1,840 triangles, 5,520 vertices and 15 materials, modelled in metres at 5.5 m × 1.0 m × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Bike lanes?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Bike lanes 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
