Laundry nook

A low-poly laundry nook: a front-loading washer and a tumble dryer side by side under a dark wood worktop, in a three-walled recess tiled in mint above the worktop. Wood shelves of bottles, towels and baskets, folded laundry and a detergent jug on the worktop and a heaped basket on a tiled floor apron finish it.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Laundry nook for the Bathroom and Laundry kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Bathroom and Laundry kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tiles, steam and soap. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mint #90d5b3, white #f4f1ec, chrome #cad1d8, soft grey #999999, mint dark #59c08c, white dark #d7cebc, mint light #c9e8d9, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `tileColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Tile colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.58 m wide (x), 1.31 m deep (z) and 2.14 m tall. Two 0.6 m machines, 0.85 m tall, sit under a worktop at 0.92 m, in a nook 1.36 m wide and 0.7 m deep inside, with 0.1 m walls 2.1 m high (plus a 4 cm cap) and a 0.5 m tiled floor apron in front. The open front faces +Z, and the origin is at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0. The exported model has 2,976 triangles in 49 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). All 12 kit colours are used, and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The washer and dryer doors are separate nodes pivoting on their hinges (washer left, dryer right), so you can swing them in an engine by rotating about Y. The outer wall faces are plain plaster with trims, because the nook is meant to sit against room walls, but they are closed and finished from every angle. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. tileColour (the kit's 'Tile colour') steps the wall tiles through white → mint light → mint → mint dark in four bands, and the feature row and grout switch to stay in contrast. wallHeight changes the walls and tile rows. shelfCount sets 1–3 shelves, but a shelf is only placed if there is at least 0.22 m clearance under the cap, so the third shelf needs a wall height of about 2.1 m or more. washerDoor swings the washer door from shut to about 100° open. The param extremes were checked by reading the geometry limits, not by a capture. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (from the per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (trims, tiles and stacked items embedded on purpose) and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 11 survive the GLB reload.

About the Laundry nook 3D model

Laundry nook is a free low-poly 3D model from the Bathroom and Laundry set. It measures 1.6 m × 2.1 m × 1.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,976 triangles across 49 meshes, with 11 named parts. Download the 250 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Laundry nook 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 250 KB: 2,976 triangles, 8,928 vertices and 49 materials, modelled in metres at 1.6 m × 2.1 m × 1.3 m.
Can I animate Laundry nook?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 11 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Laundry nook 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
