Steam

A low-poly column of hot-water steam curling up off a puddle round a chrome floor drain on four mint bathroom floor tiles. Three columns of faceted white puffs start as thin wisps, swell, fan apart and fade away in a seamless 6-second loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Steam for the Bathroom and Laundry kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Bathroom and Laundry kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tiles, steam and soap. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mint #90d5b3, white #f4f1ec, chrome #cad1d8, soft grey #999999, mint dark #59c08c, white dark #d7cebc, mint light #c9e8d9, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `tileColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Tile colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the tile patch is 0.31 m square and 0.02 m thick (four 0.145 m tiles on a grout bed), the puddle is 0.23 m across, and the steam rises to about 0.92 m overall (the GLB's bounding height at its static pose); the plume fans out to roughly 0.45 m at the top, past the tile edges. Origin at bottom centre, grout bed on y = 0, front faces +Z. 7,564 triangles in 101 meshes, counted from the GLB. Motion: one seamless 6 s clip, 'scene-motion', moves only the 30 steam puffs. Each puff rises along a widening helix, fans out along its column's heading, swells, and shrinks to near zero at both ends of its climb, one whole cycle per loop; every puff pivots about its own centre. The grout, tiles, water and drain never move. tileColour (the kit 'Tile colour' setting) steps the tiles along the kit tile ramp: white light, warm white, mint (default), mint dark, soft grey; the puddle switches to mint on the two pale steps so it still reads. plumeHeight, puffCount and steamColumns reshape the steam. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (7 of the 12 used; soft grey, warm white, mint dark, mid grey and dark wood are unused at the default). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. Steam is matte, opaque, faceted geometry, not a particle or transparent effect, and the puffs float by design. glb-lint: 0 errors, 5 warnings (the exporter's one-material-per-mesh count and duplicate same-name materials, a draw-call estimate of 101 against the direction's soft budget of 100 because every puff blob is its own mesh, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, and the intended nesting of the drain slots on the grate and of the overlapping puff blobs); the verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. The grey ground disc in the preview is viewer staging and is not in the GLB.

About the Steam 3D model

Steam is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Bathroom and Laundry set. It measures 41 cm × 92 cm × 45 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 7,564 triangles across 101 meshes, with 8 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 1.1 MB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Steam 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 1.1 MB: 7,564 triangles, 22,544 vertices and 101 materials, modelled in metres at 41 cm × 92 cm × 45 cm.
Is Steam animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Steam 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
