Keyboard shortcuts

1DesignTool is mouse-first — the composer, pins and panels are the main surface — but the keys below drive the flows where the keyboard is faster: stepping variant lanes, judging blind compares, and the app-wide shortcuts from the menu bar. There is no shortcuts page in the app itself — this is the reference.

App-wide (⌘ on macOS, Ctrl on Windows)

KeyAction
⌘ NNew project
⌘ ⇧ NNew window
⌘ OOpen a project
⌘ WClose the window
⌘ ,Settings
⌘ 1 / 2 / 3Result / Code / Split view
⌘ \Toggle the chat panel
⌘ RReload the preview
⌘ .Stop the run
⌘ ⇧ .Stop all runs
⌘ ⇧ AActivity

Composer

KeyAction
EnterSend the brief
Shift + EnterNew line in the input
⌘ / Ctrl + VPaste — attaches images and files dropped onto the input

The composer input also carries the agent, effort and quality chips — the mouse is the tool there.

Live preview

KeyAction
⌥ + hoverHighlight the element under the cursor
⌥ + clickPin a comment to the element (in Comment mode)
TDesigner Talk — the agent's notes on its own choices
EscLeave Present mode

⌥-pick is the fastest steering gesture — the pin lands on the exact node the agent will edit. See Pick, comment and draw.

Deck viewer

KeyAction
FFullscreen
← / →Previous / next slide

Variant lanes

When a project has lanes, the strip steps with the keyboard:

KeyAction
[Previous lane
]Next lane
0Jump to Main
1–4Jump to lane A / B / C / D
EscClose the all-lanes grid

Blind compare

In the judging view, the keyboard matches the on-screen controls:

KeyAction
←Left is better
→Right is better
TTie
SSkip
EnterRecord the pick (after choosing a reason)
EscLeave the round

See Variants and blind compare for the judging flow.

Scene editor

In the 3D viewport and panels:

KeyAction
← / → / ↑ / ↓Step the selected parameter
Home / EndJump to the parameter's bounds
EnterCommit a numeric field
V / G / R / SViewport display modes
TabCycle the panels
⌘ KCommand palette

Everywhere

KeyAction
EscClose the open popover, dialog, license panel or update prompt

Esc is the universal close — a popover, a dialog, Present mode, a variant round. When something's open and you want it gone, Esc is the first try.

Tip: The keyboard pays off most in blind compare — ← / → verdicts move faster than mousing six pairs. One hand on the arrows, and the judging round is a few seconds.
