Aviary

A low-poly walk-in zoo aviary: an octagonal timber frame with wire-mesh walls and a faceted dome under a dark-wood cupola. A front entry vestibule has a door and a blank yellow sign board, and inside are a tree, perches, planting and seven yellow, white and green birds.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Aviary for the Zoo kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Zoo kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Enclosures and winding paths. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: leaf green #3a883a, sand #d1bd94, timber #765232, sign yellow #eecd2b, leaf green dark #235223, sand dark #ba9c5e, leaf green light #5db15d, sand light #e6ddcb, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `habitatMix` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Habitat mix" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 7.57 m wide (across the plinth flats), 6.79 m tall to the finial and 9.19 m deep including the 1.5 m front vestibule. The cage is 7.0 m across its flats with 3.0 m walls and a 1.8 m dome rise. Units are metres, +Y is up and the vestibule door faces +Z. The origin is at the bottom centre of the octagonal cage, so the model spans z -3.79 to +5.40 (the vestibule sticks out in front), and the plinth rests exactly on y = 0. The exported model has 4,716 triangles in 26 meshes (one mesh per part per colour) and no textures. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour: 10 of the 12 are used, and sand light and soot black are not. The exporter gives each mesh its own material copy, so a colour can appear on several materials with the same name. Recolour by name. Geometry is deliberately non-indexed so the facets stay flat in every engine. The model is static, with no animation clip. habitatMix (the kit's 'Habitat mix') swaps sand-dark rocks for shrubs, one floor slot at a time across 8 slots, and adds up to 6 grass patches: 0 gives arid scrub and 1 gives a lush garden. diameter, wallHeight and roofRise rebuild the cage, and the tree, perches and planting scale with it. birdCount places 0 to 9 macaw-sized birds (about 0.7 m) on the perches, branches, log and floor. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. All-min (5 m, 2.6 m walls, 1.0 m rise, mix 0, no birds) and all-max (10 m, 4 m walls, 2.6 m rise, mix 1, 9 birds) both passed three-check, at 3,790 and 6,114 triangles. Wire ends, rails and perches are buried a few centimetres in the posts, beams and floor on purpose. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings. These cover the per-mesh material copies, non-indexed geometry, overlapping vestibule meshes, the mesh, roof, cupola and sign groups that sit on the frame in sibling groups (so they read as detached), and a building-scale height measured against the direction's 1 m reference. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphen in the library slug. The same plan with the hyphen removed passes, and three-check accepts the ids, all 13 of which survive the GLB reload. Viewer exposure is 0.75 instead of the direction's 1.05 so timber and the grey wire don't wash out. This is staging only and does not affect the GLB.

About the Aviary 3D model

Aviary is a free low-poly 3D model from the Zoo set. It measures 7.6 m × 6.8 m × 9.2 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,716 triangles across 26 meshes, with 13 named parts. Download the 354 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Aviary 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 354 KB: 4,716 triangles, 14,148 vertices and 26 materials, modelled in metres at 7.6 m × 6.8 m × 9.2 m.
Can I animate Aviary?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 13 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Aviary 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
