Houses
A low-poly suburban family house with six switchable designs. The default is a two-storey colonial with a white-columned front porch, a green front door, an attached garage and an end chimney.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Houses for the Suburban Street kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Suburban Street kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Quiet family homes on a curved road. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: pastel siding #c4c4c4, lawn green #3a883a, asphalt #3b3e45, white trim #f4f1ec, pastel siding dark #9e9e9e, lawn green dark #235223, pastel siding light #ebebeb, lawn green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `houseColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "House colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: the main house is 9.0 m wide × 8.0 m deep, two storeys (2.8 m each) on a 0.45 m foundation. The eaves are at 6.2 m and the ridge cap is at about 8.7 m. The attached garage on the right is 4.0 m wide × 6.2 m deep with its eaves at 3.35 m. The overall bounds are 14.5 m wide × 12.2 m deep × 9.47 m tall to the chimney cap; the depth includes the 2.4 m front porch and the shrubs. The origin is the bottom centre of the overall bounding box, so the front door sits about 1.6 m left of x = 0. The model rests on y = 0 and the front door faces +Z. The GLB has 3,364 triangles in 31 meshes (merged per part and colour), is static and has no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and 11 of the 12 colours are used at the defaults (pastel siding dark only appears in other colour schemes). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials: recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. design picks one of six houses: 0 Colonial (porch, garage, end chimney), 1 Front-gable farmhouse, 2 Hip-roof ranch with a left garage, 3 Saltbox, 4 Cape Cod with two dormers, 5 Hip-roof foursquare with a dormer and porch. The part list varies with the design: for example, design 4 adds a dormers part and has no garage. houseColours (the kit's 'House colours') steps through three schemes: below 0.33, light siding with grey shutters and a dark wood door; 0.33–0.66, mid siding with asphalt shutters and a green door; above 0.66, dark siding with soot shutters and door and a soot roof. All six designs and both param extremes (width 7.5 m / pitch 0.35 and width 11 m / pitch 0.8) passed three-check, but only the defaults were checked with glb-lint. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings. Two are about material count and duplicates, both from the per-mesh materials. One flags overlaps where frames, shutters and sills are deliberately layered on the walls. The last compares the 9.5 m height with the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 10 survive the GLB reload.
About the Houses 3D model
Houses is a free low-poly 3D model from the Suburban Street set. It measures 15 m × 9.5 m × 12 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,364 triangles across 31 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 203 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Houses 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 203 KB: 3,364 triangles, 6,504 vertices and 31 materials, modelled in metres at 15 m × 9.5 m × 12 m.
- Can I animate Houses?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Houses 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
