Black beach

A low-poly 4 × 4 m Volcano Island ground tile: wind-rippled black sand with a wet swash tongue edged in white foam, a stepped cluster of hexagonal basalt columns, driftwood, beach shrubs, pebbles, grey ash drifts and glowing lava bombs. Every edge is flat, so copies tile seamlessly in every direction.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Black beach for the Volcano Island kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Volcano Island kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A smoking peak over black sand. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: basalt black #151619, lava orange #ed7e1d, ash grey #757e8a, jungle green #3a883a, basalt black dark #090a0b, lava orange dark #af590e, basalt black light #3a3c40, lava orange light #eea668, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `eruptionStage` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Eruption stage" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: exactly 4.00 × 4.00 m in plan and 1.41 m tall at the top of the tallest basalt column. The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the tile centre and the front faces +Z. How it tiles: all relief fades to exactly 0.22 m within 0.30 m of every edge, so all four edges are flat, soot-black sand over a 0.10 m basalt-black-dark cut band. This is the same edge as the Volcano Island lava-flow tiles, so the two meet flush, and rotated copies tile too. All props stay inside the borders. The GLB has 7,120 triangles in 14 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 7,490-triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (10 of the 12; lava orange dark and lava orange light are unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so some names appear more than once; recolour by name. The lava orange material is emissive (self-lit) so the bombs glow. eruptionStage (the kit's 'Eruption stage') sets the number of lava bombs (1 at 0, up to 5 at 1), turns on their glowing cores and spatter above 0.15, and grows the grey ash drifts. columnHeight sets the tallest basalt column, and the others step down from it. rippleDepth sets the wind-ripple relief on the dry sand. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The viewer uses exposure 0.95 so the black sand stays black; this does not affect the GLB. The ash drifts and the wet-sand edge follow the 0.083 m facets, so their outlines are stepped. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected: 14 materials over the direction's 10 (duplicates come from the per-mesh export), non-indexed geometry on purpose for hard flat-shaded facets, overlapping boxes for nested pieces (columns rise from inside the sand slab; bomb cores sit inside their crusts), and 'detached' flags for pieces that sit on the sand rather than at y = 0. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 9 ids.

About the Black beach 3D model

Black beach is a free low-poly 3D model from the Volcano Island set. It measures 4.0 m × 1.4 m × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 7,120 triangles across 14 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 535 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Black beach 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 535 KB: 7,120 triangles, 21,360 vertices and 14 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 1.4 m × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Black beach?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Black beach 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
